i agree. :)
I’m thankful for my dad.
I know this photo is a bit unsightly but I think it gets him down to a tee (sp?!).
He is unashamed. He is unashamed of everything he loves, everything he has, and everything he is. Although I think he’s just plain crazy most of the time, I will never doubt his love for me because of the enthusiastic way he introduces me to people and his tone of voice when he calls me his daughter. I hear his hope for me in his simple Texan-Chinese accented advice and I know he constantly lifts me up in prayer. I see the confidence he has in God and it is a high standard of undoubting, unwavering faith that no guy has matched to this day. My dad makes it hard for me to like guys because of the crazy standard he sets through his relationship with Jesus. And that’s how I know it should be.
My dad makes things work. He does not get distracted or discouraged. Sometimes, it’s frightening. Once, a family friend said it was a pity my dad didn’t have any sons because he loved playing sports. The next few months, my dad took my sisters and me to parks every Saturday and Sunday to learn how to dribble a basketball, catch a baseball, hit a tennis ball, kick a soccer ball, throw a football, toss a frisbee, and even swing a golf club…although the last thing was probably not something we should not have done at a park. He made us play hard and he pushed us to try everything even though we were honestly no good sometimes. I learned to make things work from my dad.
My dad makes the commonplace things of life exciting and fulfilling. His ability to have fun while folding clothes amuses me over and over again. He makes games out of the most ordinary and his optimism often helps me realize that everything really is going to be okay in the end. I know his trust is in the Lord.
To people, he doesn’t look like much, but if he were a successful businessman or a cool older guy who had everything under control, I would never have learned how to love my Lord unashamedly, live purposefully without limits, or trust hopefully by example.
I am thankful for my dad who teaches me to live a life poured out unto the Lord.
